Dr John Chen is Specialist in Liver, Gallbladder, Pancreas, Biliary and General surgery.
His clinical interests include complex liver and pancreas surgery as well as endoscopic biliary interventions (ERCP). His research interest includes primary and secondary liver cancers, pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, pancreatic islet auto transplantation as well biliary cancers and endoscopic management of biliary and pancreatic disease (ERCP). He also deals with routine general surgery such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and hernia operations.

Dr Chen has published in many aspects of benign and malignant HPB diseases as well as in the areas of liver transplantation. His Doctorate thesis (PhD) was on Pathobiology of Acute Pancreatitis with emphasis on the role of Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction.
Dr Chen was the ANZ Liver Transplant Fellow to The Queen Elizabeth Medical Centre based in Birmingham, UK.
